JUNGLE CREWZ POSSE

Bantu G Bro
Bantu G Bro

Jungle Crewz Posse has three members. We met Bantu G Bro (real name Luzango D P Mfupe). The crew started in 1993 at Mbeya College in Mbeya. Now two members live in Dar and one in Tabora.

We have our own style, the cantu vantu style. We normally talk about afro-centricity, we want to make people know their origin. We hate tribalism and the gap between the rich and the poor.

It is just the text (that's different). It's normal rap. We're trying to transform it. We rap in English and a little Kiswahili. Bantu are not only in Tanzania. If we use Kiswahili people from other countries, it would be difficult for them to understand. We want everyone, white people, Indians, Japanese, to understand what we are talking.
We mean, we want people to understand the roots of the black man, traditions. Nowadays most rappers in third world countries are just copying from abroad. Rap is not copying from abroad. Rap is how we live. Where you belong. The surroundings. Everything. We are not talking gun. If you show me a gun it would be hard for me to tell you which is the trigger. I know gun in movies, pictures. We are talking things that we know and see and understand.

Jungle Crewz Posse has published one cassette called "Bantu Way Back" in 1995. Since they have recorded some more songs.

Listen to a piece of the song Cantu Vantu (.wav format 750 kB).
